Maybe not a supercar but a nice SS
« on: December 26, 2006, 03:53:33 pm »

I just picked up a new daily driver.  It's a 2000 Camaro SS with 33K miles.  I love it!  It's an automatic but that's fine because my L78 car is a 4 speed when I need to do some shifting.

Jeff I also enjoy the late model F-bodies as my wife really loves her WS-6 that Paddock Chevrolet hooked us up with. as well as a soon to be added bolt-on by GMMG.

I felt guilty driving it in the rain the past couple of days with it being such a clean car.  But it's just a car and will now be my daily transportation so it has to be driven.  I will be putting a GMMG chambered cat-back exhaust on it in a couple of days too, it has a lousy Flowmaster on it now.

I love the 4th gen's...good looking car.  You will enjoy the chambered exhaust that GMMG sells.  Its loud when you open it up but quite on the interstate......If you have any questions about the 4 gens, give me a shout....

Jeff
That is a great looking car. Looks super clean. Are the stripes factory or aftermarket? Have you all noticed how these 2000-2002 Camaros are getting scare on the streets? And seems like when you so see them now they are beat up and abused.

My wife bought a 2002 new but sadly it's a v-6. I tried to get her to buy at least a z/28 but she would not do it. Now she wishes she did. Being a owner of a Toyota 4 door  prior, she thought a V-8 would be too much for everyday use.

When the 09 Camaros come out you will see a boat load of these '97-2002 SS  cars with low miles and 0 miles come out of the woodwork and be put up for sale because the same thing happened to the  2003-2004 Mach I Mustangs, Bullitt Mustangs and other limited production Mustangs when the '05 Mustang came out.  Guys grew tired of their 12.8  mile Mach one in their garage and want somehing new but can't afford more than one car or don't have the storage space.

I would consider the SS Camaro's a supercar since they came from SLP.

The stripes are the 35th anniversary(2002) stripes but the previous owner liked them so he bought them for his wife as a Christmas present(yes, it was her car).  I like the silver stripes on the white car.  I drove a 93 Z28 Indy 500 Pace Car as my daily driver for almost 5 years and kept it in very good condition so this car shouldn't be a problem.  I've been driving a cheap beater(88 Toyota 4Runner) as my daily transportation for the last 2 years and I can't take the lack of power so it was time to upgrade.  And I can't afford to have 2 regular vehicles on my insurance here in NJ.

did the car come with any cool SLP options?  If so they will be listed on a sticker on the passenger side door....

I wouldn't call them cool but it came with the optional exhaust(which was removed for a lame Flowmaster), SS floor mats, SS car cover and the key fobs.  I like how the RPO's decode to show some of the codes for options like the hood for transit and the 275/40/17 tires/wheels.  What's kind of odd is that it has the 'ASR' switch for traction control in the dash but there is no traction control option on the car.  Just goes to show how the assembly line still mixes things up.

give SLP a call they will fax you the breakdown of all options for your model year, its worth having. Kinda of cool seeing what color cars were built with what options.  I had a 01 1LE car for awhile and it broke down as being 1 0f 5 built in that color.  Wish i still had that car, it was a blast to drive on Bristol Motor Speedway, man i wish Year one would bring the Bristol Bash back....best $20 i ever spent.

Well yesterday I made a trip to GMMG and Matt twisted my arm and talked me into a few things (which wasn't hard since he had a Black Bird sitting there) for the WS-6. I brought a whole car full of goodies home with me and I'm sure glad I didn't drive a truck  NoNo. I hope to make most of these changes within the next week and I will post some pics here of what I get done.

Scott

PS. Matt thanks for the cool info and the help yesterday it was a blast. I think what ever you decide to do with those wheels we were looking at will turn out cool.
